Who we build for

IMT Manesar industries that suit rooftop solar

Auto components

Tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers run long daytime shifts that use solar output on site.

Die-casting & forging

Heavy machining and auxiliaries make the energy charge a large share of cost.

Electronics & consumer goods

Assembly lines and HVAC loads run steadily through solar hours.

Readymade garments

Garment exporters in IMT sectors run large sheds suited to rooftop arrays.

Food processing

Continuous chilling and packing loads pair well with daytime generation.

Grid rules

DHBVN and Haryana rules for factory solar

Net metering up to 500 kW

Under HERC's 2021 rooftop regulations, net metering is allowed up to 500 kW or your sanctioned load / contract demand, whichever is lower. Larger plants can use gross metering up to contract demand. Consumers drawing open-access power cannot also net-meter.

How surplus units are settled

Since HERC's 2nd Amendment (October 2025), surplus credits carry forward within a 1 October – 30 September settlement period. Credits left at the end are bought by the DISCOM at 90% of the feed-in tariff, so size the plant for daytime self-consumption.

FY2026-27 industrial tariff

HT industrial supply (above 50 kW) pays ₹6.95/kVAh at 11 kV and ₹6.85/kVAh at 33 kV, plus ₹290/kVA/month of contract demand. Electricity duty, municipal tax and FSA are extra. There is no solar-hour rebate in the FY2026-27 schedule.

Applying to DHBVN

Applications go through DHBVN's online solar portal (esolarconn.dhbvn.org.in) with a ₹1,000 fee. HERC rules require a technical-feasibility decision within 15 days and a Letter of Approval within 22 days of acknowledgement; the plant must then be installed within 180 days.

Green open access from 100 kW

Consumers with 100 kW or more of contract demand can buy green power through open access; since 2025 several connections in the same operation division can be clubbed to reach 100 kW. FY2026-27 HT charges include ₹0.73/kWh wheeling and ₹1.45/kWh cross-subsidy surcharge.

Illustrative only. Assumes the factory uses all solar output during working hours and counts the energy charge alone, treating one kVAh as one kWh (unity power factor). It excludes GST, demand charges, surcharges, panel degradation, O&M and financing. Your actual payback depends on your tariff category, load profile and roof. Local context

What IMT Manesar factories should know

HSIIDC began a ₹28 crore 66/11 kV substation in IMT Sector 8 in 2026 to supply sectors 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8, aiming to end the outages, voltage swings and tripping that pushed units onto DG sets.

Source: The Tribune, 2026

In March 2026, with gas supply uncertain, the Manesar industry association asked HSPCB for temporary permission to switch back to diesel — a sign of how exposed heat-process units are to fuel shocks.

Source: Times of India, Mar 2026

Industry delegations reported continuing 11 kV breakdowns and tripping in the Manesar sub-division and a shortage of maintenance staff at night (March 2026).

Manesar, in Gurugram district, is in the National Capital Region, so CAQM Direction No. 76 applies: diesel DG sets may run only as backup, and older sets of 41–800 kW need dual-fuel kits or certified emission-control retrofits. Rooftop solar cuts the daytime units a DG set or the grid has to supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is IMT Manesar under DHBVN for rooftop solar net metering?

Yes. Manesar is a DHBVN division in Gurugram district, so net metering follows HERC's 2021 rooftop regulations. Applications go through DHBVN's online solar portal with a ₹1,000 fee.

What happens to surplus solar units from a Manesar factory roof?

Surplus units carry forward as credits within a 1 October – 30 September settlement period. Credits left at the end are bought by DHBVN at 90% of the feed-in tariff, so sizing the plant to daytime self-consumption gives the best value.

What does a 500 kW rooftop solar plant cost in Manesar?

Sun Wave's reference price is ₹22,000/kW excluding GST at 500 kW, about ₹1.1 crore, and ₹23,000/kW at 100 kW. The final price follows a site survey. 500 kW is also the HERC net-metering ceiling if your contract demand is at least that high.

Why do IMT Manesar factories rely on diesel generators?

Industry bodies have reported 11 kV breakdowns, tripping and night-time staff shortages in Manesar, and gas supply uncertainty in 2026 added pressure. HSIIDC's new Sector 8 substation is meant to stabilise supply, while rooftop solar reduces daytime grid and DG units.
