A 100 kW CAPEX rooftop system for a Greater Noida factory costs about ₹23 lakh (₹23,000/kW) excluding GST with Sun Wave, and a 500 kW system about ₹1.1 crore (₹22,000/kW). Sizes in between are priced progressively, and the final quote follows a site survey of your roof, load and NPCL connection.
Where we work
Greater Noida Authority industrial sectors.
NPCL commissioned a 12.5 MVA substation at Ecotech-3 in June 2026.
Designated by the state as an electronics manufacturing (ESDM) cluster.
Newer industrial sectors with large plot sizes.
NPCL upgraded Site-B transformers and added Site-4 and Site-5 substations in 2026.
Strengthened by NPCL's 2026 Site-5 and Site-B upgrades.
Who we build for
Several global smartphone plants run continuous loads that absorb daytime solar.
49% of NPCL's energy sales; billed under HV-2 on kVAh.
Ecotech sectors bar polluting industry; modern sheds suit rooftop arrays.
Grid rules
Under UPERC's rooftop solar regulations, net metering is limited to domestic, agricultural and institutional consumers. Industrial and commercial units use net billing: imports are billed at the full tariff and exports earn a separate feed-in rate. Plants can be 1 kWp to 2 MWp and up to 100% of contracted demand.
Source: UPERC RSPV Regulations 2019 (amended to Dec 2025)Since the Third Amendment (July 2025), the net-billing feed-in rate is the weighted average of the previous year's bid tariffs for solar projects of 5 MW and above, plus 25%. Because exports earn less than imports cost, the best economics come from using solar on site.
Source: UPERC RSPV Regulations 2019 (amended)NPCL's HV-2 base rate is ₹7.10/kVAh up to 11 kV plus ₹300/kVA/month, less a 10% regulatory discount for all consumers in FY2026-27. NPCL's summer time-of-day rebate (15% off, 07:00–16:00) overlaps solar hours, which lowers the value of each solar unit slightly.

| Item | Value | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| System cost | ₹23,00,000 | 100 kW × ₹23,000/kW, ex-GST (Sun Wave reference) |
| Year-1 generation | 1,20,000 units | 100 kW × 1,200 kWh/kWp/year (Delhi Solar Policy, 2nd Amendment 2026) |
| Grid energy charge avoided | ₹6.39/kVAh | NPCL HV-2 energy charge up to 11 kV (₹7.10 less 10% regulatory discount), FY2026-27 (UPERC NPCL tariff order 2 Jul 2026) |
| Year-1 saving | ≈ ₹7,67,000 | 1,20,000 × ₹6.39 |
| Simple payback | ≈ 3.0 years | System cost ÷ year-1 saving |
Illustrative only. Assumes the factory uses all solar output during working hours and counts the energy charge alone, treating one kVAh as one kWh (unity power factor). It excludes GST, demand charges, surcharges, panel degradation, O&M and financing. Your actual payback depends on your tariff category, load profile and roof. Local context
NPCL reports 56.63 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar across 1,849 consumers and is piloting the replacement of diesel generators with battery storage.
Source: UPERC NPCL tariff order, Jul 2026Greater Noida's peak demand hit a record 866 MW on 28 May 2026, beating the previous high of 832 MW set in June 2025.
Source: Hindustan Times, Jun 2026Not all of Greater Noida is NPCL: the Knowledge Park-V data centre park has its own licensee, and the YEIDA area and rural Dadri, Dankaur and Jewar are served by PVVNL. Check your bill.
Source: NPCL company profileGreater Noida (Gautam Buddh Nagar district) is in the National Capital Region, so CAQM Direction No. 76 applies: diesel DG sets may run only as backup, and older sets of 41–800 kW need dual-fuel kits or certified emission-control retrofits. Rooftop solar cuts the daytime units a DG set or the grid has to supply.
Source: CAQM Direction No. 76 (as amended 2024)Greater Noida is supplied by NPCL, a private licensee covering 335 sq km. The YEIDA area is served by PVVNL and the Knowledge Park-V data centre park by a separate licensee.
NPCL's HV-2 base rate is ₹7.10/kVAh plus ₹300/kVA/month for supply up to 11 kV. All consumers get a 10% regulatory discount on both, which brings the energy charge to about ₹6.39/kVAh before duty and fuel surcharge.
No. UPERC's FY2026-27 NPCL order confirms industrial consumers cannot use net metering but can opt for net billing. Exported power is credited at a feed-in rate below the retail tariff, so plants should be sized for self-consumption.
Sun Wave's reference price is ₹23,000/kW at 100 kW, about ₹23 lakh, and ₹22,000/kW at 500 kW, about ₹1.1 crore, both excluding GST. The final price is set after a site survey.
