How much does factory rooftop solar cost in Gurugram?

A 100 kW CAPEX rooftop system for a Gurugram factory costs about ₹23 lakh (₹23,000/kW) excluding GST with Sun Wave, and a 500 kW system about ₹1.1 crore (₹22,000/kW). Sizes in between are priced progressively, and the final quote follows a site survey of your roof, load and DHBVN connection.

Where we work

Industrial areas we cover in Gurugram

Udyog Vihar Phases I–VI & Sector 18

HSIIDC estate of about 2,140 plots and 2,068 producing units (2015-16 district profile).

Udyog Vihar Sector 37 / Khandsa

Home to the state's Auto Components and Apparel cluster facilities.

Sectors 34–35 (HSIIDC)

About 131 plots and 125 producing units (2015-16 district profile).

Basai Industrial Area

Light-engineering cluster with a state common facility centre.

Bilaspur industrial belt

Industrial belt where 11 kV feeder outages drove DG use in 2026.

Kadipur, Daulatabad, Mohammedpur & Behrampur

Informal industrial pockets with many small engineering and garment units.

Who we build for

Gurugram industries that suit rooftop solar

Automobiles & auto components

The Gurugram–Manesar–Bawal belt is India's auto hub; multi-shift loads absorb daytime solar fully.

Readymade garments

Export apparel units run cutting, stitching and finishing through the working day.

Light engineering & plastics

Machine shops and moulding lines in Basai run day-shift loads that match solar output.

Lighting & electroplating

Electroplating is power-intensive, so each avoided grid unit saves more.

Grid rules

DHBVN and Haryana rules for factory solar

Net metering up to 500 kW

Under HERC's 2021 rooftop regulations, net metering is allowed up to 500 kW or your sanctioned load / contract demand, whichever is lower. Larger plants can use gross metering up to contract demand. Consumers drawing open-access power cannot also net-meter.

How surplus units are settled

Since HERC's 2nd Amendment (October 2025), surplus credits carry forward within a 1 October – 30 September settlement period. Credits left at the end are bought by the DISCOM at 90% of the feed-in tariff, so size the plant for daytime self-consumption.

FY2026-27 industrial tariff

HT industrial supply (above 50 kW) pays ₹6.95/kVAh at 11 kV and ₹6.85/kVAh at 33 kV, plus ₹290/kVA/month of contract demand. Electricity duty, municipal tax and FSA are extra. There is no solar-hour rebate in the FY2026-27 schedule.

Applying to DHBVN

Applications go through DHBVN's online solar portal (esolarconn.dhbvn.org.in) with a ₹1,000 fee. HERC rules require a technical-feasibility decision within 15 days and a Letter of Approval within 22 days of acknowledgement; the plant must then be installed within 180 days.

Green open access from 100 kW

Consumers with 100 kW or more of contract demand can buy green power through open access; since 2025 several connections in the same operation division can be clubbed to reach 100 kW. FY2026-27 HT charges include ₹0.73/kWh wheeling and ₹1.45/kWh cross-subsidy surcharge.

Illustrative only. Assumes the factory uses all solar output during working hours and counts the energy charge alone, treating one kVAh as one kWh (unity power factor). It excludes GST, demand charges, surcharges, panel degradation, O&M and financing. Your actual payback depends on your tariff category, load profile and roof. Local context

What Gurugram factories should know

Haryana City Gas officials said only about 1,000 of roughly 17,000 Gurugram industrial units had a PNG connection (Oct 2025), which limits dual-fuel DG compliance and keeps many units on diesel.

Source: Hindustan Times, Oct 2025

In March 2026 industry groups told DHBVN that 11 kV feeder outages in Bilaspur and Manesar and an overloaded 66 kV substation at Sohna were forcing units onto DG sets.

Source: Live Hindustan, Mar 2026

HERC granted a parallel distribution licence for Gurugram and Nuh on 19 Oct 2026, then halted it on 28 Oct 2026 after a state direction. DHBVN remains the only operating licensee.

Gurugram is in the National Capital Region, so CAQM Direction No. 76 applies: diesel DG sets may run only as backup, and older sets of 41–800 kW need dual-fuel kits or certified emission-control retrofits. Rooftop solar cuts the daytime units a DG set or the grid has to supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the DHBVN net metering limit for a factory in Udyog Vihar, Gurugram?

Gurugram is served by DHBVN under HERC's 2021 rooftop regulations. Net metering is allowed up to 500 kW or your sanctioned load / contract demand, whichever is lower; larger plants can use gross metering up to contract demand, subject to feasibility.

What electricity tariff does an HT factory in Gurugram pay in 2026-27?

For FY2026-27 the HT energy charge is ₹6.95/kVAh at 11 kV and ₹6.85/kVAh at 33 kV, plus ₹290/kVA/month of contract demand. Electricity duty, municipal tax and FSA are extra, so every solar unit used on site avoids at least the energy charge.

How much does a 100 kW rooftop solar plant cost for a Gurugram factory?

Sun Wave's reference price is ₹23,000/kW excluding GST at 100 kW, about ₹23 lakh, and ₹22,000/kW at 500 kW, about ₹1.1 crore. The final price is fixed after a site survey of the roof, load and DHBVN connection.

Can Gurugram factories keep running diesel generators under CAQM rules?

Across the NCR, older diesel sets must run dual-fuel or with a certified emission-control retrofit, while CPCB-IV+ sets up to 800 kW and gas gensets are unrestricted. DG sets are meant for backup only, and rooftop solar cuts the daytime hours they or the grid must cover.
